To help provide timely service to our patients, we prefer to schedule all visits.
We require a complete medical history for each patient entering our practice. We require a full copy of your child's medical records, including vaccine records before we schedule your first visit. We ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your first appointment.
If you arrive late for your appointment, we will try to work you back into the schedule, or perhaps offer an appointment to you with another provider. Out of courtesy to our other patients, we may be forced to ask you to reschedule your appointment.
If you are unable to keep an appointment, please notify us 24 hours in advance by calling the Abington Office appointment line at (215) 884-8009 or the Jamison office appointment line at (215) 918-1800. If you fail to keep an appointment, you will receive a telephone call and a letter reminding you that you missed your appointment and remind you to reschedule. Siblings scheduled together who miss or cancel appointments within 24 hours, will no longer be scheduled together. If you miss three appointments without adequate notice, we will reluctantly ask you to choose another doctor’s office for your child’s health care.
If a new patient misses an initial visit without 24-hour advance notice, the appointment will not be rescheduled, nor will the patient be admitted to the practice.
We do not accept walk-ins at either of our offices. All visits require an appointment.
Patients who walk in with a non-emergency condition will be triaged by a nurse and asked to schedule the next available sick appointment.
We make every effort to schedule appointments for sick children on the same day that you call us. It’s best to call in the morning between 8am and 9am during telephone hour if your child needs to be seen that day. When calling us to schedule your appointment please provide us with all of your concerns that you would like addressed so we may schedule the appropriate amount of time.
If you would like us to see more than one child, please schedule both of them when you make your appointment. Without an appointment, we may not be able to see a sick sibling right away, and you may be asked to wait while the physician sees a scheduled patient who may be waiting. A parent or legal guardian must accompany all patients.
Sometimes, delays with emergencies may cause us to fall behind schedule. We are providing the best possible care on an individual basis and these delays are sometimes unavoidable. We respect the value of your time and will do everything possible to maintain our schedule.
We will perform all services and screenings recommended for your child's age group, regardless of insurance coverage. While many insurance plans do cover these screenings without any cost to families, there are plans which do not pay in full for some. Abington Pediatric Associates feels the benefits of these screenings outweigh the minimal cost some families may need to pay out of pocket. Our intent is to continue to provide exceptional care based on the highest standards of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which includes these screenings. Read our Financial Policy to learn about implied consent when scheduling appointments.
Please schedule well exams at least 4 to 8 weeks in advance. This is especially true if you have specific requests such as after school appointments or wish to see one particular doctor. Be sure it has been a year (365 days) since your last physical.
